Nelly
July 2010
Meet Nelly! She is a very eager to please you kinda' gal. Actually, she is a bit of a young whipper-snapper! She needs someone who has the time to obedience train her as she is eager (and needs) training. She originally came to NRI via PAWS of Austin, TX. She was adopted to a family through PAWS in Northern CA. Nelly (on paper) seemed to be a perfect match for the new family, only it was quickly discovered that Nelly does not like other dogs nor is she willing to share her space with them. My husband and I picked Nelly up from her Cali home over Memorial weekend. Since her arrival she has met many other Neos and has shown us her disapproval of them each time. She will "tolerate" another dog with strict guidance but will not, and I must stress, WILL NOT live peacefully with another unless you are willing to keep them separated. For most families this is just not a reality. So please, if you have other pets do not consider Nelly as a possible match. We are looking for a family with no other pets and you must live local to WA State so you can meet Nelly in person. She is a very sweet girl who just needs time and patience.
Did you notice her beautiful color? This shade of blonde is called TAWNY. It is not as common as they gray (BLUE) or BLACK but more common then the rare MAHOGANY. Nelly's eyes are also a lighter shade which often occurs in the tawnys. They may darken a bit to an almond or hazel color but it is not likely since they are still so light at this age. She will be lean and leggy and less "typey" for a Neo. By "typey" I mean she will never have the thick heavy size in her legs or the abundance of skin as some Neos do. Her parents were probably of less breed type as well. This can be a plus for someone who is not very interested in all the slobber common with the breed. Due to her somewhat lack in type she will not have the full lips which will allow for a dryer mouth = less slobber ;-)
Feel free to contact me for more information on Nelly or to schedule an appointment to meet her. Please include the whole family in the meeting!
